Sad news in the Home Field family: Mike Wilson aka "Big Mike" passed away this morning. He was a big guy with a big heart. Once he paid for an expensive A/C system for HF in our big room (because it was too hot for him to enjoy himself :-) ) and asked for nothing in return except a steak dinner. He got the steak dinner - but also an open tab for the amount of the system. It took him almost two years to run out that tab. This is a picture of Mike and his son Mike Jr. Rest in peace, Big Mike. <3
PLEASE SHARE: The good people at WorkPlay have offered their venue to be a 'safe place' to return Gip's guitars. You can drop them off or have someone do it for you , no questions asked. This is a chance to do the right thing. With the story of this theft going viral it is going to be more difficult to sell these guitars and for that matter it is going to put you at risk to have them in your possession. It would be a shame to deprive Mr. Gip of his joy for something that you have to keep hidden. Please take the offer to drop them by WorkPlay or if you are in the Bessemer /Hueytown area drop them by Shooters. We will be playing there Friday night and may get Gip out there. with us. Sad news in the Home Field family. Danny Cato (who was a marvelous cook and worked with us for many years), passed away this morning. Condolences to his sons Ryan, Michael and Dusty.

Update on Home Field vs. City of Fultondale: A couple of weeks ago, presiding Circuit Court Judge Tom King granted the City's Motion for Summary Judgement. In effect, the judge's ruling says our case does not merit being heard by a jury. We obviously disagree, and think the judge's order contains several important factual and legal errors. We have filed a motion with the court to reconsider. While Judge King may modify some parts of the order, we do not expect him to make any significant changes. The next step will be an appeal to the Supreme Court of Alabama. If that is the road we travel, I will at least know the SC Justices will likely not be influenced by the politics of the situation, which we think played a large role in the proceedings at the Jefferson County Circuit level. Some don't understand why I have so vigorously pursued this "fight against City Hall" - and honestly, I sometimes question the wisdom of it all myself. The bottom line is that I think the City has used their regulatory powers to deprive me of my rights under color of law. This has been a long and arduous process that has taken an extreme toll on my life both personally and financially. Thank you all for your unending moral support, it has meant more than you could ever know. Your continued prayers are greatly appreciated. John Douglas
